5 Minutes of Fame /

A series that is part of MOCA by Moonlight programming, 5 Minutes of Fame invites local artists to explain how and why they create their art. Free with museum admission, which is free for MOCA members, City of North Miami residents and employees, $5 for adults, and $3 for seniors and students with ID.  Artists interested in presenting must sign up in advance. Igal Fedida was born in Israel and raised with Moroccan traditions. His paintings explore Jewish philosophy through symbolism and color.

Monique Lassooij was born and raised in The Netherlands and moved several years ago to Miami, Florida. In most of her work, Monique finds inspiration in colors and what those colors do the subject on the canvas.

March 2010 / Carolina Rubio MacWright and Stephanie Bloom


Carolina Rubio MacWright, grew up in Colombia but currently lives in Miami. Her work is all political and stems  from her observations with the legal system in Colombia and the U.S. Most recently her work explores the taking of freedom and relationships she fostered with Death Row inmates and immigrants while practicing law.

Artist Stephanie Bloom, whose work has been featured in exhibitions in New York, Miami, and Illinois, is the Audience’s Choice for March.

Colombian painter Cristina Rodriguez, who currently lives and works in the Miami neighborhood Little Havana, received a BFA in Industrial Design at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and later studied Fashion Design at Parsons in New York City.  She is the Audience Choice for her 5 Minutes of Fame presentation on January 13, 2010.

Gianna M. DiBartolomeo, Miami native, earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Florida International University with concentrations in Art and Art History. Her current work includes large-scale collaborative projects, exploring lyrical language and dialogue. She is the Audience  Choice for her 5 Minutes of Fame presentation on January 6, 2010.
