CREATIVE ARTS SUMMER CAMP
June 8 through August 14 | 10 weeks of Classes
Full Day Program 9am - 3:30pm | Free After-Care until 5pm
Cost per Week | $130 MOCA Members, North Miami Residents $150 non-members
Children ages 6 to 12 are invited to develop their artistic talents by experimenting with a variety of media, including painting, drawing, print-making, and sculpture. All of MOCA's instructors are experienced art teachers and educators, who are assisted by teen counselors. Class projects are designed for both beginning and advanced art students.

Meet the MOCA Art Pixie at the Aventura Mall
Join MOCA’s Art Pixies (professional art teachers) every other month at Aventura Mall’s Rainbow Valley Playground, where pre-schoolers are introduced to the work of contemporary artists through age appropriate hands-on art activities. MUSEUM STUDIES MAGNET PROGRAM
MOCA has partnered with Miami-Dade County Public Schools to develop curriculum for new school-wide magnet programs in museums and communications students at elementary, middle and high schools in North Miami, which emphasizes problem-solving, communication, exploration, invention and inquiry. MOCA will educate over 7,000 students annually.

MOCA ON THE MOVE
Bring MOCA into your classroom
Private school teachers, parents and administrators, MOCA invites your students to experience the wonder and excitement of contemporary art and design in every classroom in your school.
MOCA on the Move art classes are based on the museum’s award winning Creative Arts series and uses experienced instructors who will come to your school and infuse your curriculum with innovative projects based on contemporary artists worldwide. Students will learn about important modern and contemporary artists as they experiment with a variety of media, including painting, drawing, photography, sculpture and print-making. All art projects can be customized to fit your school’s curriculum. Programs are available for elementary, middle school or high school students. MOCA is also experienced working with students with special needs and different abilities.
Classroom teachers receive a Resource Guide featuring biographies of the artists, vocabulary words, color reproductions of works of art and additional lesson plans to be used for art, writing or social studies units.

JUNIOR DOCENT BOOT CAMP
Orientation September 2 at 4 pm
Regular Meetings Wednesdays, 4:00 – 6:00 pm, September through May.
FREE. Pre-registration required.
Teens are invited to join this dynamic, after-school program in which they learn about contemporary art and cutting-edge methods of communication by developing skills in graphic design, public relations, journalism and the visual arts. Students enhance their writing skills by producing the MOCA’zine, the museum’s acclaimed student-edited arts and culture journal. Community service credit hours are available.
INTRODUCTION TO PHOTOGRAPHY
Wednesdays, 4:00 – 6:00 pm,
September 2 – December 16 and January 6 - April 28.
FREE. Pre-registration required.
High school students will be introduced to contemporary photography, photojournalism and professional practices for photographers. Through weekly assignments students will gain technical proficiency and develop a body of work suitable for portfolio, exhibition and publication. Weekly attendance is required and students will receive credit for 30 hours of community service.

PORTFOLIO DRAWING CLASSES
Fridays, 4:00- 6:30 pm, September through April.
FREE. Pre-registration required
High school students will develop your skills and build a portfolio with studio drawing classes every Friday. Students will be guided through the study of the drawing styles of renowned artists using a variety of media. All art materials are provided.

Women on the Rise! is MOCA's innovative, gender-specific outreach program that serves over 200 at-risk, teenage girls from throughout Miami-Dade County.

MOCA'zine
Featuing art criticism, poetry, essays, and original artwork, MOCA'zine is written and edited by MOCA Junior Docents and high school students throughout Miami-Dade County. One of only a handful of art journals of its kind in the United States, MOCA'zine has a circulation of 60,000 and is distributed free of charge to high schools. |
ADULTS

DOCENT PROGRAM |
Mondays at 11 am or Saturdays at 2 pm
Adults who want to learn more about contemporary art and share that knowledge with others are invited to join the Docent program. Docents work closely with MOCA’s Curator of Education, Dr. Adrienne on Lates, as they learn about art history and receive behind-the-scenes insight into MOCA exhibitions. Docents meet either on Mondays at 11 am or Saturdays at 2 pm.

WORKSHOP
|
WORKSHOP is a seminar series that takes themes and ideas raised by MOCA exhibitions and elaborates on them in an open discussion format. Taking place on particular Sundays spanning the duration of the exhibition, each public conversation is lead by a visiting scholar, critic, curator, or artist. At least one session in the WORKSHOP seminar series is led by Miami-based artists, where they respond to the exhibition and other seminars, elaborating how the ideas broached are pertinent to the local arts community.

| CONTEMPORARY ART BOOT CAMP |
A part of the MOCA by Moonlight Education Series, Contemporary Art Boot Camp offers1 hour lectures on themes and issues in contemporary art presented by MOCA’s curator of Education, Dr. Adrienne von Lates at 7:30pm. Miami-Dade County Art Educators will earn MPP points for attending. $10 per class for MOCA Members, North Miami Residents and city employees, $12 for all other non-students. Free for college students with museum admission.

| ARTS FOR ALL |
A series of art classes for adults, to be offered from 7 PM to 9 PM. Learn about contemporary art by participating in hands-on art activities. No art skills necessary. Miami-Dade County Art Educators will earn MPP points for attending. $10 per class for MOCA Members, North Miami Residents and city employees, $12 for all others.

5 MINUTES OF FAME |
Offered on the Second Wednesday of each month from 7:30 PM to 9 PM. Local artists will be given an opportunity to present their work in an open public forum. Up to 10 artists may sign up to present each night. Artists must bring their own PC compatible DVD, CD or flash drive file. Free with museum admission.
