CREATIVE ARTS SUMMER CAMP 2008
10-Week Full Day Schedule of Classes
Full Day program runs from 9 AM to 3:30 PM
Free After-Care until 5 PM
JUNE 9 - AUGUST 11, 2008
Children ages 6 to 12 are invited to develop their artistic talents by experimenting with a variety of media, including painting, drawing, print-making, and sculpture. All of MOCA’s instructors are experienced art teachers and educators, who are assisted by teen counselors. Class projects are designed for both beginning and advanced art students.
This year MOCA is offering a free after-care option for children who wish to participate in an acting or singing class, which will be offered at least three days a week from 3:30 to 5 PM.
Cost per week: $125 for MOCA members, North Miami residents and city employees and $145 for non-residents A 20% discount will be given for each additional child in the immediate family who is registered.
A LIMITED NUMBER OF SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AVAILABLE TO CHILDREN WHO CAN SHOW PROOF OF ELIGIBILITY FOR FREE OR REDUCED LUNCH THROUGH THE FEDERAL SCHOOL LUNCH PROGRAM. The deadline for submitting scholarship requests is May 31, 2008. To apply for a scholarship contact the Education Dept. at 305-893-6211, ext. 25. Families must provide transportation and lunch for their children. Scholarships are made possible through the Irma Braman Creative Arts Scholarship Program.
Each week students will study the work of innovative modern and contemporary artists and then produce works inspired by them. Instructors will present age-appropriate projects to accommodate various age groups and skill levels.

Musical Theatre After-Care Classes
Acting: Lights, Camera, Action! Children will learn basic acting techniques, explore body movement, mime, vocal projection for the stage and build self esteem and confidence.
Singing: Does your child want to be the next American Idol? Well, they’ll be on their way with this class, filled with vocal performance techniques, breathing exercises, and ear training.
Dancing: This is an introductory class to many forms of dance and movement. Children will have fun learning coordination through musical theatre dance, hip hop, tap and other forms of dance.
Tanisha Cidel will be teaching these classes on Tuedays, Wednesdays and Thursdays each week of camp from 3:30 to 4:45 PM.
