Welcome
to the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami. MOCA strives to
make contemporary art relevant to its varied audiences through exhibitions
and public and educational programs that encourage the exploration
of the art of our time.
An active collecting institution, MOCA is dedicated to representing
significant artistic developments by emerging and established local
and international artists, examples of which are on view in our
summer exhibition Imagine: Selections from the Permanent Collection.
Also join us this summer for Jazz at MOCA concerts on the last Friday
of the month and for programs such as the Optic Nerve video festival,
multi-cultural storytelling and dance, and summer arts camp for
children.
It is a great pleasure to report that MOCA’s acclaimed exhibition
Frankenthaler: Paintings on Paper opens at the Royal Scottish Academy
in Edinburgh on August 13. This exhibition will open the new galleries
at the Royal Scottish Academy.
Our fall season kicks off on September 14 with an exhibition of
paintings by Roberto Juarez and a multi-media project by Haitian
artist Mario Benjamin. On September 19, we will celebrate the opening
of American Short Stories: Saul Steinberg/ Raymond Pettibon, an
exhibition pairing the drawings of two of America’s quintessential
illustrators. In November, Miami artist William Cordova will unveil
his newest project, and in December, we will present major exhibitions
of painting by Richard Artschwager and Inka Essenhigh.
There is no better way to show your support of MOCA than by becoming
a member. MOCA members enjoy many special benefits which you can
learn more about on this website.
I invite you to discover the museum where new art is discovered.
