In this dynamic after-school program, students are exposed to careers in the arts as they gain behind-the-scenes access to MOCA. Participants receive instruction in art history and develop writing, research and public presentation skills. Free.  Application required.

JOURNALISM

Starting September 7
In this weekly class, students learn journalistic writing and work on the MOCAzine, a literary journal for teens by teens. Historical perspectives on journalism are examined and new forms of media ar explored. Free.  Application required.

INTRODUCTION TO PHOTOGRAPHY

INTRODUCTION TO PHOTOGRAPHY
Wednesdays, 4-6 pm
Starting September 8
Students learn about contemporary photography, photojournalism and professional practices for photographers and acquire technical proficiency in studio lighting, dark room techniques, editing and composition.  Students will develop a body of work suitable for portfolio auditions, exhibitions and publications.  Free.  Application required.

Students will develop painting skills and techniques through the study of renowned artists. All materials provided. Free. Application required.

This weekly class guides students in the developmetn of their drawing skills and the creation of a portfolio for art magnet schools or college art programs.  All materials provided.  Free.  Application required.

FASHION DESIGN
Second Saturday of every month, 2-4 pm
First class October 9
Problem solving and creativity merge in fashion design. Discover careers in fashion design while learning basic skills and techniques and exploring the industry as a whole. Limited space. RSVP recommended.
Individual class: Members $12; Non-members $18. Series of 4: Members $40; Non-members $60.
ADVANCED CREATIVE ARTS
Third Sturday of every month, 2-4 pm
First class September 18
This monthly program features dynamic two-hour studio classes in which students develop critical thinking and visual literacy through aesthetic analysis of their own artwork and the work of masters. A different theme will be explored each month.  RSVP Recommended. Individual class: Members $12; Non-members $18.  Series of 4: Members $40; Non-members $60.
