MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART FELLINI-THEMED FUNDRAISER

The excitement is growing for POP 8 ½ La Dolce Vita, the Museum of Contemporary Art’s party inspired by the genius of Italian film director Federico Fellini. POP 8 ½ La Dolce Vita, MOCA’s 5th annual fundraiser, will take place on February 9, 2008 from 8 pm to midnight. Advance tickets for this fun and elegant evening are already selling fast and the event promises to be the museum’s best POP fundraiser ever.

Landmarks immortalized in some of Fellini’s more beloved films will be recreated as partygoers are transported to a world where amore and excitement prevail. Chefs from Sonesta Hotels & Resorts, Nikki Beach Coconut Grove and the leading Italian restaurant Bice will provide a selection of the best of Italian cucina while wine and prosecco will flow. A fabulous silent auction featuring one-of-a-kind travel opportunities, designer apparel, jewelry, and tickets to top events will be offered. Online bidding for the POP 8 ½ Silent Auction will be open after January 9.

MOCA is collaborating with the Miami-based Consul General of Italy, the Italian Chamber of Commerce Southeast and FAI, Fondo per l’Ambiente Italiano, to ensure an unforgettable evening that captures the unique flavor of Italy.

A special feature of POP 8 ½ will be the addition of La Dolce Vita Club, a unique private lounge area with club entrance, concierge wait staff, fine champagne and culinary specialties, and a chance to bid on exclusive auction items.

POP 8 ½ La Dolce Vita builds on the excitement of MOCA’s previous POP benefits: Pop Love, Pop Soup Pop 10 and Pop 007 which all raise funds for the museum’s Permanent Collection Acquisition Fund.

Tickets to POP 8 ½ are $150 per person; $175 after January 31. To purchase, call 305.893.6211 ext 37 or 33. Last year’s POP 007 was attended by over 800 revelers. Attendance this year is expected to reach maximum capacity so partygoers are encouraged to get their tickets early.

Hosted by MOCA’s Patron Executive Committee, POP 8 ½ La Dolce Vita is chaired by Lourdes Jofre-Collet and Susan Zarchen.

Ambassador Marco Rocca, Consul General of Italy, and his wife Aidee Rocca, Belkys Nerey, WSVN-TV Channel 7 news anchor and Alan and Diane Lieberman are the event’s Honorary Co-Chairs.
