PUBLIC PROGRAM SUPPORT

MOCA strives to advance our community’s development by stimulating cultural activity at the neighborhood level through public programs. Sponsorship of events is available at different levels.

ART TALK

Lectures by noted artists and critics are scheduled to accompany major exhibitions. Each lecture attracts a 350 plus audience including arts patrons and collectors, artists and the general public.

JAZZ AT MOCA
[Held Every Last Friday of the Month]

Jazz at MOCA spotlights South Florida jazz groups, featuring Swing, Be-Bop, Big Band, Afro-Cuban and Latin Jazz. This monthly program of free jazz concerts on the last Friday evening of each month takes place from 8 to 9:30 pm on the plaza in front of the Museum. It coincides with evening viewing hours and guided tours of MOCA’s current exhibition by donation admission. Each concert draws an average of 400-650 people from all over South Florida and cuts across a broad spectrum of the community. The ongoing success of Jazz at MOCA has led the City of North Miami and local gallerists to create the NoMi Gallery Walk program.

MUSIC AT MOCA

Music at MOCA classical concerts are held in conjunction with some of South Florida's most prestigious cultural organizations. Past concerts have presented the Florida Grand Opera, and the New World Symphony. Each concert draws a discerning audience of 200 people.

OPTIC NERVE

Optic Nerve introduces new work by South Florida’s emerging filmmakers. Each 60-minute program features ten artists and draws a capacity audience of 500 people for each program. These programs also run periodically in the Museum’s lobby and are loaned to national museums.
