Optic Nerve is MOCA’s very popular annual festival featuring short films and video by some of the freshest and most innovative artists in South Florida selected from an open call for submissions. The program is part of the museum’s ongoing effort to provide new venues for emerging South Florida artists.

The digital video, She Said As Long As You Run With Me, by the artist collaborative TM Sisters has been purchased for MOCA’s permanent collection with funds provided by Starbucks Coffee Company. The video was one of the 15 short films and videos featured in MOCA’s Optic Nerve XI festival. MOCA Executive Director and Chief Curator Bonnie Clearwater announced the acquisition at the Optic Nerve screening on August 7, 2009. Cristina Molina’s film Wow! Whitening Strips (Miss Everything) was voted Audience Favorite.
