Alexandra Fields O'Neale: Bound//Unbound

In O’Neale’s upcoming Welcome to Paradise installation, Bound//Unbound will be a public art installation that uses sound narratives to tell the story of the journey of enslavement through the Trans-Atlantic slave route and freedom through the saltwater railroads to the Bahamas by incorporating Miami’s history and involvement in the saltwater railroad as a mile marker to freedom.

Alexandra Fields O’Neale (b.1989) is a visual artist based in Miami, Florida. She received a degree in Culture and Digital Media from The New School in New York in 2011. Her work explores themes of black identity, historical narratives and ancestral trauma through photography, video, and sound art. In 2022, Alexandra Fields O'Neale received an Ellies Creator Award for the conceptualization of this project, from The Ellies Fund at the Miami Foundation.
