Overview
Anchors of Light marks three decades of MOCA’s collecting and exhibition practices. Curated by Camargo, the exhibition draws from MOCA’s permanent collection of over 600 works, presenting a selection across film, sculpture, large-scale painting, and print in new configurations and dialogue.
In this expansive survey, Camargo’s curatorial vision proposes a continuum between “Miami artists” and artists from across the globe. Spanning more than 65 works, Anchors of Light situates works by Dawoud Bey, Ian Hamilton Finlay, Dennis Oppenheim, Alfredo Jar, Barbara Jones Hogu (AfriCOBRA), Pat Steir, Robert Chambers, Pablo Cano, Purvis Young, and many others, highlighting the range of MOCA’s collection while reexamining it through contemporary and unexpected pairings that invite fresh dialogue.
